Privacy policy

Each section opens with the short version. The detail is underneath it for anyone who wants it.

Hounslow Removals is the data controller for personal information collected through hounslow-removals.uk. This page explains how we handle it under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

In short: your contact details, both addresses, and whatever you choose to tell us about the move.

The quote form asks for seven things — your name, your phone number, your email address, the address you are moving out of, the address you are moving to, a moving date if you have one, and any notes. The last two are optional. Contact us by email or phone instead and we hold whatever you tell us plus the details the message arrives with. If you book, we also hold the survey record and the job paperwork.

Why we hold it

In short: to quote for your move, to carry it out, and to keep the records the law requires.

Answering your enquiry and preparing a quote are steps taken at your request before entering a contract. Carrying out a booked move is performance of that contract. Arranging a parking dispensation with the council, or a lift booking with a managing agent, is also performance of the contract. Customs paperwork on a border-crossing move is contract and legal obligation together. Accounting and insurance records are a legal obligation.

We do not sell your information, we do not pass it to anyone unrelated to your move, and asking for a quote does not put you on a mailing list.

Who else sees it

In short: our hosting and email providers, and whoever your particular move requires.

Our website and form hosting provider handles the submission in transit. Our email provider holds the message. Google reCAPTCHA checks a submission is not automated, under Google's own privacy terms. Google Analytics, where switched on, records aggregate page statistics. The London Borough of Hounslow, or a managing agent, receives what a parking dispensation or building booking requires. On international moves, clearing agents and customs authorities receive what the declaration needs — and nothing more.

Cookies and tracking

In short: no advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, no profiling.

Where Google Analytics is enabled it loads only after the page has finished rendering. reCAPTCHA loads only once you start filling in the quote form. Blocking either in your browser will not stop you contacting us.

How long we keep it

In short: enquiries not long; completed jobs for as long as the law requires.

Enquiries that do not turn into bookings are deleted once they are plainly no longer live. Records of completed moves are kept for as long as accounting, tax and insurance obligations require, then deleted. Customs paperwork is kept for whatever period the relevant authority sets.

Security

In short: encrypted in transit, and seen only by the people doing the work.

The site is served over HTTPS and form submissions are encrypted in transit. Access to enquiry and job records is limited to the people who need them.

Your rights

In short: you can see it, correct it, delete it, restrict it or take it elsewhere.

Email hello@hounslow-removals.uk and we will deal with it inside the statutory period. If you are unhappy with how we handle a request, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

This site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
