FAQ
Questions, answered plainly
Everything people actually ask us, roughly in the order they ask it. Where the honest answer is that it depends, that is what it says.
Which parts of Hounslow do you cover?
TW3, TW4 and TW5 — Hounslow Central, Hounslow West, Heston and Cranford — plus the Isleworth, Brentford and Feltham edges. For a move entirely inside another west-London town we point you at the right firm in our network rather than stretching to cover it.
How do you work out the price?
We come and look first. Video for most homes, in person where the access or the volume earns it. That look produces a room-by-room list and the list produces the figure, with a plain statement of what is and is not included.
Why is there no price calculator here?
Because a number generated from two postcodes and a bedroom count cannot know about the loft, the garage, the stair turn or that the road is controlled parking. It gets revised later, usually on the morning and usually upward. Looking first is slower and honest.
Will the price change on the day?
Not if the house matches what we saw. Where something genuinely changes we tell you before we carry on rather than adding it to an invoice afterwards.
Can you park outside the house?
On most Hounslow roads, with planning. Where a street is controlled or too narrow for a full-size vehicle we arrange a dispensation with the council or plan a shuttle from the nearest sensible point.
Our road is narrow. Is that a problem?
A planning question rather than a problem. Plenty of the streets off the High Street and around Isleworth will not take a large vehicle comfortably. We look at the approach when we visit and bring the right size, or shuttle.
We have a semi with a loft and a garage. Does that change things?
It changes the volume, almost always upward. Lofts and garages are where the surprises live and the commonest reason a move overruns. Open both before we come so the figure covers what is genuinely there.
Do you move riverside and canal-side flats?
Regularly. Those buildings run booked service lifts and reserved loading bays. We agree the window with the managing agent first, then build the load order around it.
What if the lift will not take the sofa?
Then it is known when we visit rather than on the day. Lift dimensions and stairwell widths get measured for exactly this reason. Where nothing fits, dismantling or a different route is planned in advance.
Do you work around airport shift patterns?
A good share of our Cranford and Hounslow West work is tied to Heathrow shifts, so early starts and weekend moves are ordinary here rather than exceptional. Tell us what your week looks like and we will fit the day around it.
Do you do office and business moves?
Yes — High Street units, small offices and light industrial around Hounslow. Desks, IT, stock and records, usually out of hours so you are trading again at the new address rather than unpacking in front of customers.
Can you move a piano?
Uprights, with the right crew and equipment. For grands and genuinely specialist instruments we will tell you plainly whether we are the right firm — elsewhere in our network heavyremovals.uk carries that specialism.
Do you offer storage?
Containerised storage between dates — we pack it, list it on the way in, and deliver it back out when the dates settle. It is not a self-storage unit you rent and load yourself.
What happens if the completion slips?
It happens constantly in a chain. Storage bridges the gap and the load travels when the date is genuinely firm, which beats a vehicle sitting outside a house nobody can open.
Do you take away what we are not keeping?
No. House clearance and waste carriage are a different trade under a different licence, and we would rather say so than improvise. We do take our own packing materials away at the end.
Do you disconnect appliances?
Gas, plumbed and hard-wired appliances need a qualified engineer. We will work around one and plan the day so their visit fits, but we will not do it ourselves.
Do you move out of London?
Often. The M4 and the M25 are minutes away, so a long run west or north starts easily. Those go as one job with one crew at both ends rather than a handover at a depot.
And abroad?
Road moves from Hounslow to France, Spain, Italy and Portugal. The customs declaration is built from what we recorded at the survey and lodged before the vehicle travels. Those four are what we run regularly.
How long does a European move take?
It depends on the route, on whether the load is dedicated or shared, and on how clearance runs at the far end. Your written quote sets out an expected window for your move rather than a figure chosen to sound reassuring.
Is our furniture covered?
Cover is in place and its terms are set out in your quotation — what is covered, the limits and the exclusions. Read it before you book, and tell us about anything of unusual value so it is properly accounted for.
When should we book?
As early as you sensibly can, especially for a Friday or a month-end. Parking dispensations need notice and the good crews get committed first. We do take short-notice work and will tell you honestly what is possible.
Why are there no reviews or ratings here?
Because we have not collected any yet, and a score we could not substantiate would undercut the one thing this site is actually claiming. When there are real reviews they will appear with real names against them.
Still not sure?
Ask us directly. If we do not know the answer we will say so rather than inventing one.
