A parking day

The house is compact and the volume is manageable. What shapes the day is the street: controlled parking, no driveway, and often no legal place to put a large vehicle without a dispensation. Inside, the hall is narrow and there is a turn at the half-landing — so the sofa gets measured against the front door before anyone lifts it, and floor protection goes down before the first carry rather than after the first scuff.

What kind of day

A volume day

A driveway, a garage and a loft. The vehicle side is easy and the volume side is not: between the garage and the loft these houses routinely hold more than the ground floor, and almost none of it gets mentioned when somebody describes the house over the phone. We ask you to open both before we visit, which is the single change that most improves the accuracy of your quote.

What kind of day

A straightforward day

Generous layouts, wide approaches and usually somewhere to stand. These are the easiest houses in the borough to move, and the only thing that regularly catches people out is a long tenancy: twenty years in a three-bed with a shed and a garage is a larger job than the room count suggests.

What does not change, whichever house it is

  • Everything is wrapped in the room it stands in, not at the tailgate
  • Beds and wardrobes come apart by hand, with the fixings bagged and labelled to the frame
  • Floors, door frames and the bannister are covered at both addresses before the first carry
  • Boxes are labelled by room and go to the room on the label
  • Nobody drives off until you have walked round with us

What do you need to see before quoting?

Every room, plus the loft, the garage, the shed and the cupboard under the stairs. Video is fine for most Hounslow houses; we come in person where the access or the volume earns it.

Can you move us on completion day?

Most local house moves are completion-day moves, so yes. Completion times slip though, and a plan that only works if the keys arrive early is not a plan — we build in what happens if they do not, and storage bridges the gap if the chain breaks.

Do you take the beds apart and put them back?

Yes, with the fixings bagged and labelled to the frame. Same for flat-pack wardrobes and dining tables, though anything already dismantled once is worth mentioning — some of it does not survive a second attempt.

Our road is a permit street. What happens?

We apply for a dispensation or a suspended bay. The council wants notice for it, so the earlier you tell us the road, the more likely it is that the vehicle stands where it should rather than somewhere awkward.

What about the things we are not taking?

They stay. We do not carry out house clearance or take rubbish away — different trade, different licence. We do take our own packing materials away at the end.
